Print your own large clock display using standard 5mm LEDs with 100mm (4") digit height, and customize to other digit heights or LED diameters with our versatile design. Adapting to other grid sizes or spacer dimensions makes it perfect for fitting in a picture frame. For an optimized single-extruder 3D print, print the entire assembly from LED-mount up. Add mounting spacers as needed for a seamless fit within the frame. Post-Printing Details: For enhanced diffuse light painting, paint inside with silver or white ink using a diffusor attachment. More diffuse lighting can be achieved by employing LEDs with wide angle coverage (straw hat style) and/or sanding the tip of the LEDs. As a diffusor in front, consider utilizing a sheet of paper or an opacified acrylic panel. Customization Options: Controller Suggestion: Drive the LEDs using an Arduino equipped with software multiplexing, or opt for integrated circuit MAX7219 (2 pieces) which handles multiplexing internally. For higher power requirements, integrate driver ULN2003 and/or UDN2981. The design allows direct multiplexing on Arduino Uno or Nano for smaller 3x5 displays, while larger displays necessitate the use of an Arduino Mega board.
