prusaprinters

I need to print a lot of MineCraft figures, for a diorama, so I needed to simplify the Steve's (OpenSCAD) design. The changes are:

Arranged Steve as a single piece to print, so no assembling and gluing Steve's head, arms and legs on.

Added parameters for Customizer to control scale, head angle, and position ("running" or "working"). Since you can't position him manually, you can do so in software.

Added "feet" so that you can tell which way he's facing

After printing Steve, you will need to trim off supports under each shoulder.

Instructions

To generate the Steve you want:

Pick a scale. 1.5 mm/pixel works out to 1" MineCraft cubes, good for a large diorama. 5 mm/pixel is good for an action figure.

Enter a head angle. 0 means looking straight ahead.

Pick a position. "Run" means that arms and lets are angled like Steve is running. "Work" means that Steve is standing and using a tool. "Custom" means that you can control the angles of the arms and legs individually.

If you pick "custom" you can then set:

Leg angle: the angle that the legs are away from vertical. 0 means Steve is standing, 45 means he's running full-speed. -15 would be walking, with the right leg behind the left. The left and right legs are always in opposite positions, so Steve can stand up.

Left Arm Angle: 45 means out in front, 0 means straight down, etc. Don't use an angle more than 45 degrees or you'll probably run into overhang issues.

Right Arm Angle: Same as above, for the arm that hold tools.

Generate and print.

Trim off the supports under Steve's shoulders.

Print tools, widely available on Thingiverse. Or go out for drinks, and get Steve a sword or an umbrella!
Category: Video Games
