Customizable Noisemaker
thingiverse
I am presenting an early version of my entry for the noisemaker challenge. My goal is simple customization and composing tunes. While the musical features are basic, I can envision this resonating with children as a way to create and customize their own music box. The mechanism works much like a standard music box, using a cylinder containing ridges that lift arms, causing them to strike back and produce sound. What sets my design apart is the ability to reconfigure these ridges at will. My system incorporates 32 rings on a splined shaft, which has been optimized for 3D printing. There are 16 movable flaps, each with distinct properties (8 varying lengths and 2 different thicknesses) that can be triggered by these rings. This encourages experimentation since we all know that kids enjoy making noise. If you have any queries, remarks, or critiques, please do not hesitate to share them.
