Customizable Nocturnal
thingiverse
Human: A time-telling marvel, also known as a star dial, uses analog computing to tell time based on star positions in the night sky. Reference stars guide its accuracy. The pointer stars of Ursa Major provide critical guidance while Kochab of Ursa Minor and Shedar of Cassiopeia add precision to this ancient art. Operation is straightforward: locate a reference star, align it with your current date on the outer ring and the constellation's inner ring. Spot Polaris through the central hole and adjust the handle so that it points downwards. The pointer will now intersect with the correct time displayed on the inner ring. Customization requires using OpenSCAD files; a customizer app error limits customization options for complex designs, including inner and outer rings, but STLs for the spiral design are available.
