Create Your Own Customizable NeoPixel Ring ............................................ Want a special NeoPixel ring that's tailored to your specific needs but can't find the right size or the RGBWW chip of your choice? Take matters into your own hands and create one yourself! This adaptable NeoPixel ring consists of two main components: a holder, which serves as both an assembly jig for individual NeoPixel breakout boards (like these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K4HCVDC) and a protective case to safeguard the chips. The second part is an optional cover that can completely enclose the ring in plastic and be securely fastened to the holder using adhesive. Using this principle, you can create even more intricate custom shapes, but for now, let's focus on this straightforward guide. ............................................ To assemble individual breakout boards, it's recommended to use thin tinned copper wire (not stranded) and a fine soldering tip. While it may seem intimidating at first, aligning all the boards and using one continuous piece of wire makes the process surprisingly quick and can be completed in under 10 minutes. To trim the wires between data pads on each board, use thin cutting pliers. The attached images should provide a clear visual explanation of this process (even a casual observer can spot that I made an unnecessary cut between the + and - pads). ............................................ The ring is designed with OpenSCAD for extrusion width 0.5 mm and layer height 0.2 mm, but it's highly recommended to regenerate STL files for different values due to the extremely thin walls. For printing, use 100% infill without supports required. Clear filament (tested with PETG) works best. ............................................ The source file is included in this package.
