Customizable Mud Guard
thingiverse
Autumn has officially arrived. Where I reside, that translates to an abundance of rainy days. Determined to shield my touring bicycle (Crescent Yotta) from the elements, I decided to design and print a mud guard. Specifically, I sought out one of those ultra-compact and lightweight "ass savers" that are renowned for their effectiveness. This customizable mud guard is a clever reinterpretation of the [fender mud guard for mtb](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1235562) design. Please refer to the accompanying drawing, which outlines the parameters that can be adjusted to suit your specific needs. I successfully printed it using 1.5mm TPE filament and a .8 mm nozzle. If you're working with less flexible materials, you may need to reduce the thickness of the mud guard, as its purpose is to bend into a curved shape. Additionally, consider adding some extra tolerance to the mounting holes. I employed drill_diameter=5.2 for the 5 mm screws. The question remains: will this mud guard be sufficient to "save my backside"? Unfortunately, I was limited to printing it at 190 mm on my current setup. The next rainy day (which won't take long to arrive), I'll report back and share my assessment of its performance. EDIT: It appears that 190 mm is indeed insufficient, as I still found myself with mud splatters on the back of my bike after a ride in the rain.
