Customizable mobile phone mount for car via air vent
thingiverse
Mount a mobile into car air vents by attaching my Samsung phone (with protective case) to my BMW 3 Touring. Adjust the print to your phone and car as needed. I printed it with PLA, and supports have been integrated into the model already. After printing, carefully open the lid - this may be difficult, but if it breaks, you'll need to print it again. You must print two mounts: one for the left side and one for the right side. See the xscale parameter below to learn how to print both sides. Before using this in your car while driving, make sure the phone sits securely in the mount and that you comply with all local laws. Use at your own risk. I recently discovered a fixed lid that works for me as well, and I may post it later. Please let me know if it works for you. --- Here's what the parameters mean (all units are in mm): thickness: The thickness of all walls to generate; defaults to 2. base_breadth: Breadth of the phone mount; defaults to 20. phone_height: The height of the phone (if mounted horizontally, otherwise, its length); defaults to 78. phone_depth: The depth of the phone. I placed my phone in the car mount while it was still inside the book case, so you may need to use a smaller value for your smartphone; default is 17. vent_depth: How deep the mount grabs into the air vent; adjust it to your car. For my BMW, it's 23. vent_depth2: The length of the feet of the air vent; I use 6. vent_distance: The distance of the "legs" that grab into the air vents; I use 7. rubber_mount_length: The length of the top and bottom rubber mounts; these hold the phone mount parts together; I use 5. skirt_length: The "legs" grab into the air vent. Between the actual phone mount and the air vent legs, the "skirt" lifts the whole up a bit; I use 10. front_phone_support: The lid holds the phone in place so that it doesn't fall out of the mount. If you choose to use a small value, the phone might fall out, but if the value is too big, some buttons may be inaccessible; I use 5. support_breadth: Breadth of the supports printed; I use 0.5. delta: The distance between the main part and the lid in various places. If you use a value that's too small, the slicer will connect these parts; I use 0.3. xscale: Used to produce either the left or right side of the mount; use "1" for right side, "-1" for left side.
