customizable milk crate storage, project box, rasberry pi, beaglebone case
thingiverse
I love milk crates. They're stackable, hold a lot of stuff, and just plain fun to use. I've been looking for a way to store small items around the house and also needed some project boxes for electronics, so I decided to combine these needs into one thing: a storage box shaped like a milk crate that can easily be configured to meet my specific requirements. This project involves separating the standard milk crate from its base or lid and adding an extension section to make it slightly taller if necessary. You can attach the bottom and/or extension pieces with crazy glue or use zip ties, as I did in my photos. I also created a solid flat plate insert for the base or lid so they can be solid if you want them to be, while the sides will need to be made separately but should be nothing more than resized versions of my flat bottom. This design is particularly useful for electronics project boxes because it has many access holes that allow you to pass wires through wherever you like, without worrying about trapping heat with all the openings. The holes also make it easy to add zip ties where needed, create a hinged lid if desired, or use the box in any way you want. You can resize this design to fit your needs, but the full-size print is optimized for an 8x8 inch print bed. I'm supplying my original files in AC3D format and also as .STL files for printing.
