Customizable Magic Wand Handle
thingiverse
Tired of waving around a plain wooden dowel and pretending it's a magical staff? Then this Customizable Tool is just for you! Enter in some basic variables to create your very own custom handle, slip a wooden dowel into it, and you've got yourself one-of-a-kind magic wand prop. A bit of sanding and painting will get you a pro-looking wand for almost no cost. An STL file created from the default Customizer settings is included, but to get the best results you should really create your own customizations. Customizer Tips: Handle Opening Diameter Ideally, the inside diameter of the handle should match the size of the wooden dowel perfectly, so it goes on easily without glue. To do that, use calipers to measure the diameter of the dowel precisely and enter the number into the Customizer. The SCAD script will automatically add 0.5 mm to ensure a snug fit. Twist Factor This variable feeds into the math that generates the pattern on the handle; increasing the value produces more complex patterns with greater overlap. Keep in mind, though, that longer print times result from complicated handles. The maximum setting is 15 twists because any higher creates overly intricate designs, but I'd love to hear about people's experiences using higher values.
