Customizable M/F Shaft Coupling
thingiverse
The text spinner tool is utilized to combine two shafts effectively. It initially aimed at coupling a stepper motor to a knob via a flexible drive shaft. To accomplish this, you must measure the parts to be joined and choose your desired screw size (default is 8-32). Input these details into the customizer, print out your design, and follow up with using the appropriate tap drill size and tapping the female end. The .scad file includes a divot for screw contact on the male shaft to prevent slippage. Finally, ensure proper printing configuration, especially at the female coupling's top, which has a 45-degree cone for printable overhangs. A user shared an image of their successful application with an 8-32 nylon screw, a linear translation stage knob, a flexible drive shaft, and a stepper motor controlled by an Arduino-equipped Adafruit motor shield, all used in resonance Raman spectroscopy for rastering a photoactive sample over an excitation laser.
