This is a fusion360 model for creating custom leather stamps that can be hammered into damp leather to leave a surprisingly good impression. I've included a few example stamps you can use, and the handle to use for hammering it.

Making custom stamps

The fusion 360 model has 2 parameters to adjust the size of the stamp blank. To add a design to the stamp, simply import a 2D reference of your design (like an SVG file), and scale it to fit on the stamp, and then ‘extrude’ the portions of the SVG you want to be impressed into the leather. I found a couple of millimeters is a good extrude length.

If you're unfamiliar with fusion360, you could also use the blank STL and use whatever software you like to add a design to the flat side. The blank STL is 35mm x 35mm. If you design it this way and scale up the blank mesh (or scale down), make sure to scale the handle as well.

Print Orientation / Parameters

You will want to print the handle lying flat on it's side with 100% infill since this will be receiving most of the force from your hammer whacks.

For the stamp itself, I've found it best to print with the stamp facing upwards. You can enable ironing on the last layer to get a really smooth stamp surface. The stamp should also be printed with 100% infill to make sure the force from the handle can be distributed through more of the stamp.

Using the stamp

‘case’ your leather by getting it damp with a sponge and some water, and allow for the leather to start to return to it's natural color. Position the stamp where you would like on your piece, and insert the handle into the stamp. While pressing down and holding the handle base firmly, whack the top of the handle with a rubber hammer with a good amount of force. A few hits are likely necessary, but make sure your stamp has not moved in between.

If you have an arbor press, you could also use that instead of manually using a hammer.
