<p>Remix of Tamas' <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1395775">Acoustic Guitar nut</a>. Complete rewrite, avoiding Non Commercial issues in his design also.</p> <p>Beyond the customizer options I added, the following was also changed:</p> <ul> <li>String notches have rounded bottom for better fitment</li> <li>Converted the small horizontal "lip" at the bottom to a vertical bevel of sorts</li> </ul> <p>Mostly did this so I could punch in a few numbers and print a new one on a whim. Have a few guitars that need this treatment, so it made sense to share my results once they had been achieved.</p> <h3>Note on licensing</h3> <p>I had this set to CC BY-NC-SA from the onset to avoid issues with Tamas' thing. But as time has gone on, I have realized that despite this being my most frequently printed design, I am least happy with this design out of every other one I have published. I do not feel that a "Non Commercial" license is in the spirit of this site, which is basically a 3D printer's GitHub. Frankly, I'm surprised it's even an option to select "Non Commercial" licenses at all.</p> <p>Given that I rewrote this entire thing from scratch to fufill a need (my 5 string bass actually), I am the creator of this thing. Rather than simply tweaking Tamas' thing, I very literally reverse engineered the relevant bits and made it the right way. This is fairly obvious if you compare the two side by side in OpenSCAD -- output is the same, but the code is vastly different. It is with all that in mind that I am relicensing this as BSD. What that means for you is that this print is way, WAY more open than it has been, and will remain this way. I'll be using PLA or ABS, as long as it isn't a flexible material, you'll be fine. The higher the infill, the better support it will provide, and the easier it will be to file down later if need be (recommend 100% infill given the small size of this part).</p> <p>Don't know if a heated bed is necessary, but wouldn't hurt. Avoid rafts and brims to cut down on post-processing work when finished. I doubt they're needed anyways.</p> </p></p> Category: Music
