Customizable Grommits (and plugs)
pinshape
Sorry, but this thing isn't about British claymation. ;)\nThis project is actually for creating rubber grommets commonly used to seal pipes or wires passing through a sealed container.\nYou can also make a plug, which is just a grommet with no hole.\nIt's also a test of my "auto units" library, so you can type in most anything you want and it should do the right thing for many values.\n\nPrinting options include printing the part directly using flexible filament or creating a 3-piece mold for silicone or oogoo.\nRemember to use a mold release like petroleum jelly when creating a mold.\nIn the picture, I used the mold method (STL included) and it didn't work too great.\nI think it didn't allow enough air for straight silicone to cure well.\nThe curing process took over 48 hours and was still fragile enough to be damaged on extraction.\nUsing oogoo instead would probably work better.\nIf you're not familiar with oogoo, check out this good write-up:\nhttp://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-Your-Own-Sugru-Substitute/
