Customizable GPS Sun Shade Visor
thingiverse
I required a shade from the sun for my Garmin Nuvi 1300. Customize your own at will, but be warned - after just a couple of days in the hot car, it warped badly. It was printed in PETG filament. I may have to resort to sheet metal as an alternative. Customize this design in OpenScad (completely free). Export to STL and then slice in your preferred slicer (Slic3r). Send g-code directly to your printer. I recommend printing a partial test print with zero visor length first, to ensure accurate dimensions. Also, be sure to flip (rotate on the z-axis) the design so that the top of the visor lies flat on the printer bed. Full disclosure: I live in Georgia, USA, where the heat inside a car left out in the sun can be lethal. My PETG visor simply cannot withstand the heat and warps badly. I can usually get the warp flattened back out by placing it on a pizza stone in the oven at about 200 degrees. For me, unfortunately, I can only use my visor from October through March. It might work better in white, but that would create a lot of glare on the windshield. Print Settings Printer: Makerfront i3Pro XL Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: Printed in PETG
