Customizable Gear Organizing Plate
thingiverse
This extendable structure should be very helpful for quickly testing gearchains. It bears some resemblance to an optical laboratory table, albeit on a smaller scale. You'll also notice a similar appearance to those flat lego pieces - a coincidence perhaps. To utilize this structure, stack at least three layers of gears between two identical levels. Be sure to adjust the distance between these levels to create enough space for some strategically placed spacertubes and screws (printed or injected). Remember to ensure sufficient clearance throughout your setup. A note about axles: when printing, consider cutting them to a thickness that's twice their radius divided by the square root of 2. This precise calculation will guarantee there are no unwelcome overhangs present in your structure.
