Customizable FreeCAD clip/snap-fit case
thingiverse
I used snap fit boxes from Thingiverse for past projects. Unfortunately, OpenSCAD isn't my go-to tool, and editing STLs in FreeCAD has its quirks, so customizing them wasn't a blast. To simplify things, I created a customizable FreeCAD box with a design similar to the original. Inside the FreeCAD file, you'll find a spreadsheet named variables. Open it up and adjust width, length, and height according to your needs. The resulting model should update automatically. Keep in mind these are outer dimensions, so if you're looking to fit something specific inside, factor this in. Wall thickness should be adjusted for your needs; 0.8 as used in the template is pretty thin and might not cut it when using PLA. Tolerances are quite tight, opening or closing the box may require some extra force and/or tools. # Updates * 2019-05-25 * Displays box and lid when opening * Added a rounded version (1mm sides and .5mm top/bottom hardcoded atm, see bug #3981)
