Customizable Flat Keycaps for Cherry MX (and compatibles)
prusaprinters

I bought an inexpensive macro keypad recently that I'm now customizing for KJ use. I found a flattop keycap here that's an ideal base for customization, and now I think I have the printing process figured out. The .scad file generates a breakaway support under the part that connects to the keyswitch stem. The .3mf file has the rest of the settings dialed in:

0.1 mm layer height

slow (30 mm/s max.) printing

the text and the uppermost layer of the keycap printed with 0.2 mm extrusion width (out of a 0.4 mm nozzle)

the two towers shown next to the keycap as it's printing that absorb any stringiness from the start of printing and from changing filament. (See the black string hanging off the tower on the right? My first couple of prints had that string on the keycap.)

The designer of the flat keycap suggested that SLA might be necessary, but this remix shows what's possible with FDM printing if you get into the settings a bit. :)

These keycaps were printed on my Hypercube 300, with American Filament neon green PLA for the keycap body and 3D Solutech real black premium PLA for the text.
