Customizable Double Point Knitting Needles

Customizable Double Point Knitting Needles

thingiverse

I recently started knitting and found myself overwhelmed by the sheer number of needles required for various projects, quickly reaching a point where organization became essential. This design centers on creating customizable double-point needles, perfect for working with circular objects. Upon researching 3D printed needle tips, I encountered issues with layering and texture, prompting me to experiment with two different solutions to address these problems. First, I polished the ends of one needle by submerging them in Acrylic Weld-On #4, a compound that effectively smooths out PLA prints and can be paired with Acetone for ABS prints. Alternatively, another approach was taken: taking an extra needle and simply running it through a pencil sharpener to refine its tip. If the needle fits within your sharpener, I highly recommend this method; however, if not, dipping in Acrylic Weld-On proved a decent fallback option. Thank you for taking the time to review my design! Any suggestions or ideas on how to improve would be greatly appreciated. Print this design with no support structures and let it print smoothly. Once complete, finish your needles by running their tips through a pencil sharpener. For larger needles, an alternative solution involves submerging them in Acrylic Weld-On or applying Acetone for a comparable effect.
