Customizable Dice Game

Customizable Dice Game

prusaprinters

This is based on a game I used to play as a kid.To start a game you scramble the 9 dice by rubbing the disk between your hands. Every player then tries to find 10 words using the letters shown. The first player with 10 words stops the game. Scoring works as follows:You only get points for a word if no other player has written down the same word.1 Point is awarded per word.Extra points are awarded for long words (German umlauts count as two letters):5 letters: +16 letters: +27 letters: +3 etc.Two versions of the disk are suppliedPrint-in-place version: you can print the disk and dice at the same time.Assembly version: you can print disk and dice separately and exchange the dice at any time. Great to mix and match different colors.Recommended print settingsTested with 0.3 mm layer height. Customizing the game:The included OpenScad file can be modified to generate any custom dice set. You can freely define which letters or symbols should be on the dice. You could for example exchange them for numbers and math operations. Also unicode symbols can used! Included dice setsRelative letter frequency in different languages I have written a small script which calculates the probability of each letter appearing. Based on this the relative frequency of each letter is calculated and compared with the relative frequencies listed on wikipedia for german and english.German setThis dice set is based on the original german version of the game. It should provide a fairly good covering of german words. English setAs I don't have access to the english version of the game, I created this set by modifying the german set to match the relative frequency of english letters as good as possible. If anybody has the actual english version of the game it would be great if you could let me know which letters are on each of the dice.
