Customize your dial indicator mount for the front of a stepstruder's placement. The default settings work well with Tekton brand indicators and likely others too. Print the part, let it cool, then attach the mount to the stepstruder where previous components were located. Secure a dial indicator with an M3 nut and bolt. Lower the z-axis until the tip touches the build platform. If the printer is cooled, power on and test its level by moving the platform. Reassemble the stepstruder and recalibrate after use.
