Customizable Copilot Bicycle Seat Adapter
thingiverse
I remade the source adapter in OpenSCAD to make it parameterized for easier modification in the future. I added a small cutout on the bottom piece for an exposed brake line, making it more functional and adaptable to various bicycle designs. The parameters and included .stl files are designed for standard seats and bicycles with 35mm diameter frames, such as my Dynacraft Men's 15S Northern Ridge bike from Fred Meyer. To assemble the adapters, I used two of them, each requiring one 1" long and two 2.5" long (3" would also work) pan head stainless steel screws and three nylock stainless steel nuts in 1/4-20. M6 hardware can be used without modifications, but things will be a bit loose until assembled. I printed the adapters in ABS at 70% infill after sizing them to 102% to account for shrinkage. The result is a sturdy and reliable adapter that enhances the overall bike design. Later, I created two different foot rest designs - one for mounting on top of the frame and another for mounting on the bottom. The top-of-frame design can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4384235, while the bottom-of-frame design is available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:113872.
