Customizable Cooling Fan Speed and Flow Test
thingiverse
This model is designed to help test the directional uniformity of your cooling fan air flow and your fan speed settings in a straightforward way. I find that curling corners on overhangs are a clear indication of poor cooling, so this model features pointed overhangs in an 8-pointed star shape, aligned to both the x and y axes. The Orientation is clearly labeled at the top, ensuring you can easily track its orientation after removing it from the build plate. Keep in mind that having your fan speed set too high can lead to poor layer adhesion, so make sure to adjust it to the minimum speed required for good overhang performance. In the photos, you'll notice the impact of my printer's slightly weak air flow from the -Y direction on the model's print quality. The Fusion 360 file is fully parameterized, allowing you to easily edit the overhang angle and flare amount by simply changing the numbers. Don't forget to disable supports when printing this model.
