Customizable award base with mount hole
thingiverse
I was looking for a custom award base that features a mounting hole for a statue or any other item you'd like to display on top of it. The enabled customizer parameter allows you to choose whether the base should be printed with or without this hole, and you can also adjust its size using the holeWidth, holeLength, and holeDepth parameters. I want to extend my gratitude to TheNewHobbyist for creating the Customizable Movie Award Base that served as the basis for this model. I took their source code and thoroughly refactored it, adding comments along the way, while also making some adjustments to the metrics. Here are the print settings I used: Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 v2 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2 mm * Infill: 10% Notes: With the customizer parameter called printItem, you can specify which part of the model to print. You have three options: Set it to Both to print both the base and label as a single object. Set it to Base only to print just the base without the label. I recommend using black PLA for this option. Set it to Label only to print just the label, perfect for painting or painting over with gold PLA. I printed the base in about two hours, while the label took around 15 minutes. The label is three millimeters thick and should be printed solidly. Post-Printing: By setting the printItem parameter to Label only, you can print the label separately, paint it, and then glue it to the base. This allows you to use different print settings for the label, such as printing with 0.1 mm resolution. Before painting, a gentle sanding is probably in order.
