An oddly shaped box that still follows some rules! All of the examples posted are Irregular 5-sided curves of constant breadth, that is the distance across the curve(ore box) as measured by two parallel plains is always the same (50mm for the examples) even though the curves are not based on regular polygons. The included Code can generate new Irregular 5-sided curves (boxes) based on user input and works well with the customizer in 2021.1 version of OpenSCAD An Arbitrary 5-sided curve of constant breadth has two degrees of freedom, expressed as 2 angles that can be anything from 0 to 60 degree. Choosing any one angle too close to 0 or 60 will result in a curve that is almost a Reuleaux triangle, two angles of 36 will result in a regular 5-sided curve and angles in the 15 to 45 range result in curves that look 5 sided and irregular. This is a work in progress. The goal is to be able to generate curves with 5,7,9 and 11 sides at least (I don't believe that the code will generalize to all curves with 2n+1 sides) currently the code only works for 5 sided curves of constant breadth, but I hope to extend it soon. In the meantime this pill box is a fun way of visualizing these curves.
