There are two elements to the online system. 1. Anyone responsible for a drone or unmanned aircraft (including model aircraft) weighing between 250g and 20kg must register as an operator. The cost is £9, renewable annually. 2. Anyone flying a drone or unmanned aircraft (including model aircraft) weighing between 250g and 20kg must take and pass an online education package. This is free and renewable every three years. Both requirements become law on 30 November 2019. <u><b>Labelling your drone or model aircraft</b></u> You must label your operator ID on every drone or model aircraft you're responsible for. Use the same operator ID for all drones or model aircraft. If you've registered, check your operator ID in your confirmation email or online. <b>Warning:</b> It's against the law to fly a drone or model aircraft without a valid operator ID. Your operator ID must be: 1. Visible from the outside, or within a compartment that can easily be accessed without using a tool 2. Clear and in block capitals taller than 3mm 3. Secure and safe from damage 4. On the main body of the aircraft 5. Use a removable label since your operator ID may change when you renew 6. Always use your operator ID, not your flyer ID <i>--------- End extract from CAA ---------</i> Print at 0.1 layer height with minimal side wall perimeters (2) for easier text visibility. I printed mine with a DLP Photon S and inlaid resin into the letters and separately cured. FDM printing would be simpler, just change the color before the letter starts printing.
