Custom Y-carriage and bearing guides
thingiverse
The original Y-carriage part is printed as one whole piece and designed with a bearing guide for T2.5 belt alignment in standard Prusa Mendel v2 models. The user has used a thingiverse.com design but encountered issues due to the carriage being too low by 5mm, causing belt misalignment at the bearings' ends. To rectify this, the user recommends adding bearing guides and redesigning the Y-carriage part, raising the height of the carriage plate to prevent contact with the bearing guide at the ends. The LM8UU clamps in the used design are also prone to breaking off easily. The user suggests using their newly designed Y-carriage part along with bearing guides for improved belt alignment and stability. They have created a 23mm raised inner diameter version of the bearing guide, which fits exactly with 22mm bearings. There are two half versions available - one with 4mm and another with 3.5mm thickness. The user recommends using 3.5mm+4mm for their bearings and gluing them together with aceton as glue. The Y-carriage measures 185mm in length, making it compatible with most printers. However, the outer line may present printing issues. The belt part is slightly off-center to avoid conflicts with the stepper motor. This design is still a work in progress and requires careful printing.
