Custom Built Heated Bed. My bed size measures 275*220mm and I've grown tired of using cheap aluminium heated beds, so I decided to build one from scratch. I couldn't find any good options that fit my specific dimensions, which is why I took matters into my own hands. Here's how I built it: 1) First, I purchased a 10mm thick rectified aluminium plate. 2) Next, I designed a custom PCB heater using four double-sided PCBs from www.jlcpcb.com. Each board has the heated side facing towards the aluminium plate for optimal heat transfer. 3) To secure the PCB plates to the bottom of the plate, I used high-temperature resistant PCB glue. Unfortunately, my initial attempt at using gap-filler material and screws failed as the PCB bent more than the gap-filler's elasticity allowed. 4) After testing, I found that the copper thickness on the Chinese PCBs was closer to the lower limit, resulting in a maximum power output of around 310W @ 25 deg instead of the intended 360W total. This still meets my requirements, as each module is designed to handle 80W at 60 deg Celsius. 5) Finally, I added a frosted sticker on top for extra protection. Overall, I'm thrilled with the result and believe this method is an affordable way to build your own heated bed without requiring extensive layout design knowledge. The total cost of the project was $35, with $5 going towards the 5 PCBs and $30 for the aluminium plate. My custom-built heated bed has performed flawlessly up to 100 deg Celsius. P.S. Please note that my infrared pictures were taken in an open space near a window, which may have affected the uniformity of the temperature readings due to external IR radiation. However, this was intentional as I aimed to check for any hotspots caused by gaps in the PCB glue.
