Custom RC SuperCar
grabcad
This was a hobby project based around using some old donor RC cars and retrofitting custom 3-D printable components to create a new and unique RC car. Components transferred from donor RC car #1 ( a Dale Earnhardt Pro Kart replica RC car) are Front Suspension Assembly ( upper a-arms, suspension, steering knuckles) steering return spring, battery bay covers, ECU, battery bay terminals, steering servo motor, powertrain (drive shaft shortened to accomodate custom track width at the rear), drive shaft bearings, and various screws & fasteners.Donor car # 2 ( a no brand name, low-end m6 replica) parts include all 4 tires, as they are low profile and contain road worthy tire treading. The main idea was to create an RC supercar from my imagination. Inspirations consisted of my own renditions, as well as the Aston Martin DBS supercar concept by Samir Sadikhov. Custom components were designed to be structurally sound and resilient where necessary while keeping the hobby project financially viable (<$100CAD). As such, unfortunately, certain areas of the components were designed using bad engineering practices, to avoid design complexity and material use. Parts were to be printed by the FDM process using ABS plastic. Parts designed include the chassis/underbody, outer body shell, all 4 wheels, front wheel spacer/adapter, and steering rack. This RC car was designed with aesthetics over functionality, much like a fundamentally functional concept. General design features include a wide and low stance, with a track width wider in the rear. The body is extremely contoured and the wheels are clean and smoothconcave
