Custom Printable Perplexus - "Learning Curve"
thingiverse
This is my second custom-designed Perplexus, still in early access as the individual parts, enclosure, and support brackets are yet to arrive. This one is more thoughtfully designed than my first puzzle to maximize the experience. Check out the tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGxX3rpv1Lw A perplexus is a 3D maze dexterity puzzle in which you navigate the ball through obstacles by using gravity to your advantage. From inspiration of the Instructables "Design Your Own Perplexus", this was done on SketchUp Pro rather than Autodesk inventor, and the "sweep command" worked with the push/pull, follow me, and align faces commands. This custom-designed Perplexus "Learning Curve" can fit inside a 95mm cube of plastic and uses a >6mm ball bearing (4.76mm ball bearing preferably). Don't have a ball bearing? Print one! In Learning Curve, there are about 32 obstacles, every part is double-sided, and it could be played in reverse. As the name implies, It is moderately difficult as it features the "Rail Pipe", sharp curves, swishy tubes, drops, tight rails, and lots of loops. Instructions: Due to early access, 3D print the preassembled Perplexus all in one shot. Support is necessary but must be blocked in certain areas as it is difficult to remove. Higher infill % or more walls will lead to a less fragile chassis. Lower speeds and layer heights will increase quality. A Voronoi enclosure will be coming soon. I will continue this series and create more levels of difficulty with different types of obstacles. The next ones will be "Rectilinear" (easy), "Hypersphere" (hard), "Broken Geometry" (extreme). Let me know what you think and if you have any success.
