Custom Palm Rest (Dell Keyboard)
thingiverse
With the Covid-19 pandemic I moved my work to home and forgot to take my palm rest with me. Buying a new one from Dell or Amazon would cost $10, but this option is much cheaper and functions just as well. It can even be customized to your liking. I didn't include my own custom STL files because I doubt they'll be useful for anyone else. If you work at EB and want them, just send me a message. I included both hollow and solid versions of the palm rest in case someone prefers one over the other. Both function well without customization. When I worked with my old palm rest, I broke one of the clips and it became useless. To avoid this problem, I designed snap-in clips for mine that can be easily replaced if they break. I've also attached the Fusion360 file used to design this product so anyone can customize it themselves. If you like this idea but don't have the skills to customize it, just let me know and I'll see what I can do for you quickly. Eventually, I plan to learn OpenSCAD and turn this into a customizable item, but I'm not familiar with that software yet. When printing, use dual extrusion colors with the word side down. A few supports are needed where the clip is located. For the hollow version, print walls 0.05" thick and suggest using 100% infill for best results. For solid versions, 5-10% infill should be more than enough. Check out my friend's indie game company at http://www.piedraven.com.
