Custom medal
thingiverse
During a reunion evening, I made a little souvenir for friends. I started from our club logo and made medals. The challenge was to convert the logo to svg and print in two colors. Initially, the logo has 3 colors. I chose the white medal and the color of the blue logo which represents water. For the 3rd color which was green, I chose for the ribbon. These three pieces make a nice souvenir. The recommendations, the medal has a diameter of 2.75". The hole for the ribbon is 8 mm and the width of the ribbon is 9mm. It was wide enough to hold well on the neck. For the ribbon, we went to a sewing store or ordered ribbons from amazon.ca.I provide the Fusion 360 file which is configured so that you can modify, with variable parameters, the sizes and the logo. At least it gives you an idea of how to proceed. For the conversion of my JPG image, I used the JPG to SVG (online) site (https://convertio.co/jpg-svg/). With Fusion 360, I had to redo some of the circles on the medal. Otherwise, I suggest starting from the digital file (psd or eps) and exporting as an svg file. For two color printing I used a "Post Processing Scripts" with the "Filament Change" option which is described in Custom Keychain (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6245448).So, it is possible to improve knowledge in 3D printing. The result could have been better if I had had more time but with 45 medals and between 1h15 and 1h30 of printing, time was very limited.NOTEI printed with a 0.1mm layout to have precision but surely a 0.2mm layout would have printed well.
