Custom Lightsaber MK IV
thingiverse

This is the 4th of my custom lightsabers. I printed the accent/coupling parts in gold filament; it's an awesome contrast, I really like how this one turned out with printing the accent parts in a different color. And like my other designs, the parts are modular and can be mix-and-match. See notes for info on some peculiarities I had printing these parts which affects coupling.

I broke up some of the parts into segments to try to eliminate use of supports as much as possible, and because it was impossible to get support material out of some parts without breaking them down to segments. The Emitter and Fins will need supports for external overhangs. Otherwise, the grip, female coupler, and pommel need support touching the bed only for internal overhangs. The emitter and grip "claws" will need to be glued on with superglue or epoxy or even a type of thin double-stick mounting tape. I tried to make it so they snapped on, but the depth of the female coupling surface isn't quite great enough for a snap fit and can't go deeper without punching through the internal wall, so adhesive will be necessary. Not a big deal, IMO.
