Joints for a Kid's chair made from wooden dowels. You can cut your own 1in dowel rods with the edges shaved down to 3/5 inch to inset into the joints. You can determine the length of the dowels based on your own child's dimensions. After assembling, feel free to attach fabric to the chair and seat back. You can even screw in a seat of plywood to the dowels. Great weekend project!
