Custom Grit Guard (For smaller buckets) 20-21cm Diameter
thingiverse
I required a grit guard for my regular bucket because the ones available online were too large. I therefore designed one in Fusion360, sharing it with others so they could use it. I created two sizes as my initial attempt was slightly too small. The design features finger holes for easy removal and an inset standoff for tapered buckets, with a 40mm standoff. I am currently using the 21cm version, which fits snugly on my bucket. Your results may vary. To ensure a close fit, measure the diameter of your bucket approximately 4cm from the base and scale the model accordingly. You can also adjust X/Y Compensation (slic3r) or Horizontal Expansion to guarantee that the grid lines are 1.6mm wide (2x0.8mm). I printed the design in Slic3r, as the infill was a single solid line, unlike Cura. The recommended print settings are a 0.8mm wall line width and a 0.4mm infill. The 21cm version fits my Prusa i3 Mk3 printer in Slic3r without any skirt. It is essential to print the grit guard with a material that has good temperature resistance, such as PETG, since it will be submerged in hot soapy water. To prevent voids and ensure the design stays submerged, make sure to print it without any gaps or holes. Additionally, clean up the printed design thoroughly after printing, as any remaining bits of filament can scratch your paintwork.
