Custom Flowboard for Old Skateboards!
thingiverse
This is a Flowboard I designed for an old skateboard that was collecting dust, it's perfect for Walmart boards because they are generally more stiff which works great for this project. Note: Thanks to Emmett for the gear wheel design, it is not mine, I only adjusted it to fit onto my axle and changed a few dimensions and holes. Link to his original design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:53451 Specs: - 30 Hours of CAD time Solidworks was used for CAD Changeable amount of wheels per side, 7+ is a viable option Advisable to change the gear bearings with actual bearings with a wheel for smoother ride, this was a fully 3D Printed project so the goal was to use only 3D Printed Parts. Filament: - Yellow Parts - Prusa I3's PLA 1.75 - Blue Parts - Hatchbox PLA 1.75 - Red Parts - Hatchbox ABS 1.75 - Orange Parts - Ninjaflex's Ninjaflex Rubber 1.75 You need to use at least two types of filament for this project, one being regular ABS, PLA or any other hard plastic and the other being a rubber like NinjaFlex's Ninjaflex rubber or Cheeta. I used several different PLA and ABS filaments to see how each one prints and performs as this was one of my first few prints with my printer. I would recommend not using ABS with Prusa i3 from personal experience while printing. Hatchbox's PLA and Prusa i3's PLA was the smoothest and had the least peeling from the bed. Also, there are a few files that you can see that look like pulleys and belts. Those are all custom and are in the works for making this motorized. A few files and CADs are still a work in progress and trying to find a good gear ratio is also a struggle with this. Most likely a hobbyist motor will have to be used for the torque to be high enough. Until then you can try and work with what I have so far. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa I3 Original Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.05 - 0.2 Infill: 10-30 Notes: Parts with Rafts: Wheel Holder Bar Parts with Support: None Infill Parts: 10% is fine for the bar holder in the middle, 20-30% for the side bar guides and the Ninjaflex parts, and the actual gear wheel I used 30% Resolution: 0.05 for the Ninjaflex tires, 0.1 for everything else. How I Designed This I used Solidworks to design this model This model was a challenge mostly due to having to adjust the wheel rod in such a way that the correct angle was reached. Aligning the rod in Solidworks was pretty simple, making a plane in the full assembly at a 45° angle and mating the rod to it. Then making a middle holder for the rod so that when weight is applied it does not bend and break. This was done by adding it and then using the Solidworks - Subtract tool to subtract a hole from the middle holder. The height of the middle holder and any angles or dimensions can be changed by going into the CAD or STL files provided. Remix this!
