This luxurious timberframe and log home in Whistler, B.C., Canada was rescued by an architect who took up the project after the original designers were fired. The initial design had numerous flaws that needed rectification including structural, aesthetic, and functional issues, framing connection problems, and poor window/door layouts. The hired architect redesigned almost every part of the house, created a 3D model for better coordination with manufacturers, and designed two unique stair sets (interior & exterior). The home belongs to Don Lindsay, a billionaire CEO of Teck Resources who also sponsored the 2010 Winter Olympics. However, the architect faced numerous challenges on this project including being underpaid, denied overtime hours, and sleeping in harsh conditions before renting his own place. Despite eventually getting paid after three years, the architect's experience on this project was far from ideal.
