Curved Talon Magazine
thingiverse
So: this is a printable short dart magazine. It's Talon profile, and is (currently) glue-assembled. It uses a Foamblast drum spring, which is slotted into the rear face of the magazine so as to allow for the curve. I made this entirely for looks. This is by FAR inferior to Thanhlon mags for actual use. The only benefit here is that these have witness slots, so you can use opaque filament and still see how full you are. The cons of this mag are: the follower tilts a bit, and so sometimes it can get hung up while you're loading. Sometimes it'll even just jam up all the way about seven darts in. The remedy, I've found, is to dab some lube in the guide grooves in the mag body and on the guide nubs and front face of the follower. That's worked for me, as of about twenty mag dumps today. If the follower gets jammed up on loading, you can use the witness holes to just realign it. I haven't had any issues feeding, though, so it seems like all the potential problems are on loading. All parts should be oriented for printing. The mag sides will need supports touching buildplate only. I assembled it with superglue, which is holding up great. If you make this, please post a make, tell me your thoughts so I can improve. To do: figure out how to assemble with screws, speedplate style baseplates, fun witness hole patterns... 08/07/2020- uploaded 18 round longer mag. This is as long as I could make it to fit the Ender 3 build plate diagonally. Chauchat-style mags are not working.
