Curved Printrbot Play Fan Shroud

Curved Printrbot Play Fan Shroud

Printrbot Play came with a woefully inadequate fan cover that causes tons of airflow to leak all over the place. I've been struggling to get decent print quality because of it. For instance, when printing a 10mm diameter pillar, the side not facing the fan just isn't getting sufficient cooling, resulting in really subpar printing quality. I like the original look of the PLAY, so an effective Fan Shroud Add On is pretty much my only option to tackle these cooling-related issues. I tried out some designs, and based on those results, I iterated a few versions of my own. Now this design has been proven to be a solid fit, easy to install and delivers a great result (check out the 3D Benchy boat I printed with this shroud). Print it as is, 100% infill at a 0.2mm layer height. Update: I uploaded another design with an even more concentrated air escape nozzle, which should increase airflow. Update: After taking a closer look at the print head from underneath, I noticed that due to the Ubis 13 metal hotend featuring a chunky heater block, it pushes the should about 5mm away. But so far, it's working for me. And it probably will work just fine for the less bulky ceramic hotend too. I'll re-design if I encounter some model that requires even better heat dissipation.
