Curved Lithophane Lamp

A lithophane uses backlighting to shine through a sheet of plastic, where thicker portions appear darker and thinner ones lighter. The resulting effect is a glowing, black-and-white photo that "pops-out" of the plastic. It's really beautiful! Many lithophane lamps arrange 5 images in a cube that sits on a table and illuminates all sides simultaneously. My first lamp design did this, and my second one put 3 images in an arc. This time, I wanted a single, larger image in a curved lithophane. This lamp accepts one 75-degree curved lithophane measuring 200 mm × 117 mm × 3 mm photo. It's optimized for a lithophane with a 3 mm bezel around the edge. The lamp has an empty cavity inside for you to construct your preferred method of lighting. You might use strip lights, a powerful LED bulb, etc. In the photo, I used a 5050 LED Strip Light at 12V. To glue the strips better, I used a 3D pen. The .stl file has a hole near the bottom for accepting wiring and an angled bracket to zip tie your wire as it enters the lamp for strain relief. You can see a small switch in the photo, but I didn't include a cut-out for it in the model; I physically cut out the hole after printing. **Needed supplies:** * LED strip lights (I purchased mine for about USD$4 from ebay, though this was with 30-day shipping from China) * Power supply for LED strip lights * A few small scraps of thin-gauge wire (I used 20 awg) * Soldering iron and related supplies * One 75 degree curved 200 mm × 117 mm × 3 mm lithophane (instructions on how to produce these are provided in the Post-Printing section) * One small zip tie for strain relief of the power cable Please click/tap **Like/I Made One** to help other people find this model.
