Curve Gauge for casting design
thingiverse
In modeling cast parts, measuring the inside radius of curvature can be a challenging task with just calipers alone. The STL files provided are stepped half-rods that start at 10mm and increase to 20mm in diameter. To accurately capture the curve of your casting, select the step that best fits your part, then read or measure the corresponding diameter/radius for use in your modeling software. These stepped half-rods can also be used as a workaround for measuring large holes where a ruler or calipers may not fit. The SCAD source files are included for your convenience, allowing you to adjust parameters such as minimum diameter and number of steps. The step size is set at 2mm in diameter or 1mm in radius, making it easy to scale up or down as needed. Additionally, the flat surface features alternate steps with marked diameters for added precision.
