Curve clock

thingiverse

This is my exclusive design of a clock that incorporates some curves into its intricate framework. The spinning gears create an intriguing spectacle as the curves intersect with each other at varying speeds, generating an mesmerizing illusion. All the clock's internal components are visible from the exterior, making it a captivating timepiece to observe as the hands tick away relentlessly. Smaller components like supports, washers, and axles are printed with 100% infill. There is a 0.1mm tolerance built into the design. To make the numerals stand out, I sponged some black paint onto them. Annotated view Assembly Assembly is relatively straightforward; I've added a drawing to show where all the parts go. Adhesives are used only to secure the 6 support posts in place as well as the reduction gears support plate. Do not use adhesives to keep the clock hands in place, they were designed to have a snug fit but still be able to move them manually to set the time. Motor I employed a stepper motor that I salvaged from an old scanner that I disassembled. The base plate is currently designed according to the shape of that motor. I've made the link to the design on OnShape available for you to adapt the back plate as needed. I'm more than willing to assist in case you require a custom design. How I Designed This The design was created using OnShape. Here's a link to the public design. Curve clock design
