The Curtiss Hawk, a fabric-covered wood and metal structure biplane, served as a fighter during the early to mid-1930s in the United States. It was one of the last biplanes manufactured for military use before modernization began just before World War II commenced. The P-6 Hawk closely resembled its naval counterpart, the F-11-C2 Goshawk, with key differences being the air-cooled radial engine in the former and a water-cooled inline engine in the latter. Following their military service, these aircraft were sold to numerous nations, including South and Central American countries, China Nationalists, and the Philippines among others.
