Introduced during the early to mid-1930s in the US, the Curtiss Hawk was a fabric-covered wood and metal biplane designed for military purposes. Before the modernization program before World War II, it was among the last biplanes produced for the US military. The P-6 Hawk was similar to its naval counterpart, the F-11-C2 Goshawk, but with different engines - air-cooled radial engine in the naval version and an inline water-cooled engine in the army version. These aircraft eventually found their way to South and Central American countries, China Nationalists, the Philippines, and other nations after being utilized by the US military.
