Curtain rod mounting bracket
thingiverse
We suffered a kitchen fire that damaged our curtain rod brackets and window trim, but fortunately, the curtain rods themselves survived. My wife was unhappy with the replacement bracket options available, so I offered to design custom replacements, which have been working perfectly until we can complete the kitchen remodel. To create these custom brackets, I printed the first one using wood PLA filament and a second set in black ABS. While both worked well, the ABS wasn't as tight as the PLA due to shrinkage. The wood filament paired nicely with the provided models. The brackets are 20mm wide, so I printed two each of Bracket.stl and BracketSmall on their sides with Cura set to remove the bottom 10mm (refer to the attached image). This resulted in two halves that can be glued together and sanded for a seamless finish. Next, print two copies of BracketMount.stl and mount them to the wall using wood screws. You have the option to print them lying down or standing up, just be cautious not to over-tighten the screws when printing vertically, as this may cause them to split along the layer lines. The design doesn't require any set-screws; instead, the curtain rods simply snap into place and are held securely. I'm providing the FreeCAD model so you can customize it to fit your specific curtain rod diameter. The center of the circle where the rod sits is positioned slightly below the top of the bracket, allowing it to snap in easily. As the diameter of the circle increases, the depth of this center point must also be adjusted. Printer Settings: - Printer: Monoprice Maker Select 2 - Rafts: No - Supports: No - Resolution: 0.2mm - Infill: 50% Notes: - Print two copies. - Lay one on the left side and the other on the right side, offsetting the bottom by 10mm so each half prints 10mm. - Glue the resulting halves together for a smooth finish without requiring supports. - Print BracketMount.stl either lying down or standing on its flat end. I've successfully printed it both ways, but be aware that if you print standing up and overtighten the screws, they may split the mount. Design Process: The design was created using FreeCAD.
