Curtain Rod / Dowel Holder
thingiverse
This is a simple curtain rod holder, designed to drop a rod or dowel in from the top. There is a single screw hole in the base to attach it to the wall. Mom is a pre-K teacher and has a few curtains in front of some storage areas in her classroom. They use those flimsy metal spring-loaded expanding curtain rods, and kids were always catching or pulling on the curtain and bending the rod, destroying it. Dad had a length of dowel to replace the rod with, but needed a bracket to hold it. I whipped these up in OpenSCAD and they've been doing the job for quite a while now. This is one of my earlier OpenSCAD designs. While not a complex design, being able to solve a problem quickly was a wonderful feeling.
