Curiosity, a car-sized Mars rover, explores Gale Crater as part of NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission (MSL). Launched from Cape Canaveral on November 26, 2011, it landed in Aeolis Palus, Gale Crater, Mars on August 6, 2012. Its destination, Bradbury Landing, was a mere 1.5 miles from its target after a 350 million-mile voyage. It aims to study the Martian climate and geology, assess if the Gale Crater site supported microbial life through water, and conduct planetary habitability studies for future human missions.
