Cure station lid to block lights for turntable use
prusaprinters
I needed to take some 360 animations of some prints and I didn't have a turntable. I do have an Anycubic wash and curing station like the one here. It has a turntable.Problem is you can't run the turntable without the lid on, and the UV lights come on too. You can trick the back sensor to make the unit think the lid is on, but then the unsafe UV lights are not protected by the lid.So I designed a sleeve to put over the LED tower on the curing station. Inside it I placed a bright yellow piece of craft foam sheet to trick the sensor in the back to think the lid is on. You can see in one of the pictures. Then I also put some foam on the bottom of the print to give a nice smooth fit around the base of the station and also not have the print scratch it. (Sorry for the ugly brown foam I cut in the picture. I was in a hurry). You can get the foam in various colors and bundles at Walmart or craft stores, etc. Here is a sample. So once you slide the insert over (making sure to have the bright yellow foam on the back to trick the lid sensor. You can turn it on and use the curing option for a nice smooth turn table spin. You can cut a nice piece of foam in the circular pattern of you curing station plate if you want something solid in color for whatever you want to get photos of on the turntable.I usually put a backdrop in front of the printed sleeve so when I take photos or videos I have a nice solid background behind it. I also recommend just putting the curing station lid over the printed part for added protection and using your backdrop to keep that all out of view.I ran out of black filament on this print and had to switch to white, but I would recommend sticking with all black or some dark color. I gave it a pretty thick wall thickness.NEVER RUN A CURING STATION OR UV LIGHTS LIKE THESE WITHOUT THE PROTECTIVE LID. BE CAREFUL! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU HURT YOURSELF MESSING WITH YOUR UV STATION.
