Curbs for RC-Car (and Bike)
thingiverse
This is a versatile system for my rc-cars and bikes. Works flawlessly for the openRC F1! There are currently 7 parts, each able to clip into another, so you can build any track you desire! All parts fit seamlessly together, providing numerous combinations to create curves, tracks, pit stops or anything else your imagination conjures up. Additionally, there's an option to change filament height at will (I did this with my last 5mm of another color, which looks really nice - see the photos). You can also print parts in two or more colors to build truly impressive tracks. I often combine red, white and repeat for a stunning effect. To ensure strength, it's recommended to print with three walls and have four to six layers on top (0.2mm each), resulting in incredibly robust parts. The curbs are specifically designed for 1/10 rc-cars but also work well with other sizes. My Tamiya Cayenne in 1/10 scale is featured in the example images. The small round plates are comprised of four "Endkeil" parts clipped together - a bit tricky, but doable (you can also build larger circles using the other curves). They're designed to mimic real curbs: you can drive on them, but you won't want to. They shouldn't cause damage to your car due to their flatness and maximum height of 20mm. I've driven over them with my openRC F1 and Cayenne without sustaining any damage. The system may also be scalable - give it a try! However, please note that scaling all axes equally is essential for the joints to fit properly. I haven't tested this myself. I have some additional parts in development, including a way to connect eight 150mm curves and fill the middle (as well as a holder for a GoPro as a racing camera). If you're interested in these or any other track-related parts, feel free to let me know! The seven included parts are: Keil50 is a simple linear part, 50mm long; Keil100 is similar but 100mm long (the shorter one allows for more flexibility and a nicer look when combining colors); KurveAR15 is an outside curve with a radius of 150mm; KurveIR15 is the same, but inside the track; KurveAr30 has a 300mm radius, like KurveAr15 but larger; KurveIR30 is similar to Ir15 but with a 300mm radius; Endkeil is an end-part that can be used to create an endpoint or combined with another to build islands, small round plates or other shapes. Be creative and combine all parts in any way you like! Make photos of your track and share them here to inspire others.
