Cura drinkcoaster set
myminifactory
Since I owned my first 3D printer, the Velleman K8200 kit, I have been relying on Cura to get the job done. Believe it or not, the software has made a huge difference in how smoothly my 3D printer runs compared to the older program I was using for slicing. I used Repetier with my printer at that time because it seemed like the perfect pairing, but now I highly recommend switching to Cura. If your printer isn't already listed in the default settings (the K8200 wasn't), you can easily create a custom setting by inputting some basic specs into the Cura program. This was something I hesitated on for months because I thought it would be too complicated, but after four or five months, I decided to give it a shot and found that it was actually quite easy. All I had to do was edit my bed size, nozzle diameter, extruder temperature, and copy-paste the start- and end-g-code into the settings. Although I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing at first because there isn't a lot of documentation on how to customize your printer in Cura, I figured that the x-y-z endstops would be the worst-case scenario for any beginner like myself who is still learning. I haven't printed these models yet, but I have successfully previewed them in my slicer and seen no problems with the level of detail. You can print these coasters using a single color or multiple colors, with filament or resin – it's entirely up to you. If you're feeling inspired, share what you've created by posting a picture of your print, but if you'd rather keep it private, that's perfectly fine too. This coaster design is standard in size (100 by 100 by 5 mm) and should fit neatly into the coaster holder I designed: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3130397. Best regards, IdeaLab
