Cupid and Psyche at The Musée Rodin, Paris
myminifactory
This sculpture originated from one of the groups in The Gates of Hell. Rodin extensively explored this subject over several years, with the earliest instance dating back before 1886, and created it in multiple versions, as well as repeatedly drawing it. The marble version was likely carved by his trusted assistants and technicians under his supervision, which was standard workshop procedure at that time. The contrast between the rough-hewn rock and the smooth surface of the figures demonstrates Rodin's admiration for the work of Michelangelo. This object is part of "Scan The World".
